There's no strategy, no consistency, and in my opinion, no fun. Sure some things change, but it's always a slowly shrinking free-for-all map where random weapon drops and random encounters are all you get. My opinion is that they suck and there are so many of them these days that it feels like every franchise has their own battle royale game and they all basically play like a variant of PUBG. If you like battle royale games, that's fine. But in a battle royale, I don't know if I'm getting a nice lobby of similarly skilled players, a lobby of mashed potatoes who don't even know which end of the gun a bullet comes out of, or a lobby full of guys who sweat Gamer Fuel energy drink. Not dudes who suck ball sacks and not dudes who have less of a life than I do. And yes, I said "cool", because I'm a pretty high tier player, so I like playing with guys in my skill level. Shooter games in general have this really cool system called Skill Based Matchmaking. If you're lucky, you'll get good guns and not end up landing in the same part of the map as fifty dudes who don't have anything better to do than learn maps and spawns. It's all chance with the guns and the engagements. How is that a fun concept? How the Hell do you stay engaged when you're just sneaking around, trying not to get your ass blown off by Thanos in the corner of a room with a fucking neon pink RPG7? If I'm playing a combat game with only one life, I don't want my chances of victory boiled down to "well, were you lucky enough to get the legendary assault rifle from that random crate that might spawn in the gas station?" "Oh, have you heard of PUBG? It's a game where a bunch of people play free-for-all, but you only get one life, and the map is constantly shrinking." Seriously, I remember when battle royale games were new. Race, Religion, LGBTQ, Meta, Politics, Parenting/Family issues.
